Who We Are
Savannah
Owner, Dog Trainer, Veterinary Nurse
Savannah is the proud owner of The Polite Puppy Academy, taking over the business in July 2025 after working with the academy for two years prior.
​
She has been a veterinary nurse for 8 years, with experience across general practice, specialist hospitals, and emergency care. This background has given her a strong understanding of animal health, behaviour, and body language.
​
Animal behaviour has always been a passion of hers, and she particularly enjoys working with reactive dogs and helping owners better understand their canine companions. Savannah uses positive reinforcement–based training methods only, focusing on building trust, confidence, and clear communication between dogs and their owners.
She is currently undertaking her Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training through Delta Institute to continue expanding her knowledge and provide evidence-based training.

At home, Savannah has a soft spot for her own little crew Callie the Whippet, Pablo the Jack Russell x Fox Terrier, and her cat Enzo, who keep life entertaining and remind her every day why she loves what she does.
Makayla
Puppy Trainer, Veterinary Nurse
Makayla joined The Polite Puppy Academy team after completing her Certificate in Veterinary Nursing in 2025.
Since joining the team, she has quickly discovered a passion for puppy training and supporting owners as they start their journey with their new dogs.
Working closely alongside Savannah, Makayla has quickly become her right-hand woman, helping run classes and ensuring both puppies and their owners feel supported and confident during training.

With her background in veterinary nursing, Makayla brings a strong understanding of animal care, behaviour, and welfare to every class. She loves watching puppies learn, grow in confidence, and develop the foundations that set them up for success.
At home, Makayla is kept busy by her own 2 fur babies Merci and Duggie, 2 Rottweilers that she absolutely adores.
